Several leading' Wairarapa chiefs met, Mr. Parata, ai:d expressed unanimous approval' of tho movement; Tho Natives arc : keenly disappointed, at. tho indefinite methods at present employed with .reference to tlioir own affairs,'and they arc prepared to support a schomo which, will give them a obanco' of showing independence,:'and I indirectly of preserving the race from extinction. : • /■'Mr. Parata has.now visited Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, Wariganui, and" the King Country;' and'in each district branches have Ijecfi formed, with vice-presidents to control' them. LaTgo numbers/ of .'Natives :have handed in their names as members, and the association shows a promise of flourishing, to a marked extent. ,
