HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.
Tho fortnightly meeting of the "Wellington Hospital Trustees was held yesterday, there being presont:— I Tho Hon. C. M. Luke, .M.L.C.. (chairman), and Messrs. J. Danks, It. C. Kirk, E. H. Hales, J. \V. M'Ewen, A. C. l'earce, F. G: Bolton, and G. London. Some discussion arose over tho question of receiving an overdue application, from ,Dr. Fyllo, for appointment to tho honorary medical staff. It was stated that the application' was two days laj». It was resolved that tho' trustees, whilo expressing regret, could not entertain the application. • Tho return of receipts and expenditure for tho fortnight onding March 23. showed that tho balanco carried forward from tho last meeting amounted to £145 Ds. 2d.; rent, £25 l!)s. 7d.; in-patients, £102 45.; out-patients; £15 10s.; contributions, £1 17s, Bd.„ Expenditure—February accounts, £806.55. 4d.; wages, £149 18s. 7d.; balance, £1334 10s. Od. ' . .
The Secretary reported that tlio number of patients in tlio General Hospital was 18" (10S males and 79 females), as against a total of 197 for tlio corresponding period of tlio previous year. In -the Victoria Hospital there wore 20 malo 'and 25 fomalo patients; in the Seddon Hospital 15 malo and 9 female patients, making a grand total of 256j as against 252 for the corresponding period of, 1907.
With referonco to the competitive designs for a new hospital, the Wellington Association.of Architects wrote suggesting that certain-' additions and alterations bo mado to tlio requirements already drawn up for the Trustees. As there wero some important matters concerned in the suggestions, it was decided by the Trustees that the matter be referred to tlio Houso Committee, and that tho'chairman bo requested to secure tlio services of someone qualified to give tho Trustees an interpretation of what tho architects desire. It is understood that tho Government architect will bo asked to adviso thoTrustees. - ' On tho recommendation ,of the Houso Committee, Nurse liiehter was appointed to the position made vacant by the resignation of Sister Bcrtlm.
