It is reported (says our Wairara'pa correspondent) thijit the Now - Zealand' Farmers' Dairy Union ; has' purchased the entiro remaining outplit.of a lajal factory, and; other companies are seriously thinking of making purchases in order to fulfil local orders during the winter months.'' It is Stated that the entire consumption in the Wairarapa, outside of the bush districts, is 56,000 pounds per month, and that the whole manufacture by factories and private butter-makers does not at present reach this amount. The Jlastertoh Dairy . Factory, is turning out. about 200. pounds per day less than, the demand, while Donald's factory at' Featherstoii just ; about .meets its present'sales with a daily .manufacture of 500 pounds, 20 per cent, less than at the corresponding time.last year. This factory commenced to. store its.wintfer. supply ■ two. months earlier than,last Season, but even with that advantages -it .now holds only 100 Jboxcs, against 150 in March, 1807. ' Owing td th.o. demand, there is no chance of storing • now. The factory, however, will run the whole season. The owners state that the l ain, co far has not. caused an increase in tho milk supply. ■ ' . .
