BURNED IN A MINE.
-Frank, Johnson, a miner, aged 58 years, employed at the claim of ' the Normanby '' North Company, Ballarat East, met with a ■ fatal accident on March 10. Ho was 6n- ■ gaged with a mate named George Prossbr ia putting in a set of timber at the 600 ft. level, when ho pulled out a large picce of old ; mullock that had been banked at'the side of tho drive; This action caused about a ton and a half of the material to break away and fall on Johnson, whose death was install: tanoous. His mate, Pressor, when the accident occurred, was back in the drive towards • the shaft, and on hearing the crash caused by the falling-reef lie rushed forward, and ' found that Johnson had been entombed by. tho displaced reef. The deceased, who leaves, a widow and family, was ongaged on tribute.
