At tho Labour Department's picnic, hold at Titahi Bay on St. Patrick's Day, a programme of sports• resulted as follows:— .
■ Old Maids' Race, 75yds. (all women over 1G years of ago eligible)— Miss O'Reilly, 1. . Conciliation Three-legged Handicap, 100 yds. —C. E. 'Aldridgo and J. W. Collins, 1. . Tug : of-war—Mr. F. W. Rowley's team beat ,a team selected by Mr. J. W. Collins. Blackball : Handicap Race, 220yds.—J. Saxon, 1.
Married Women's Race, 75yds.—Mrs R. A. Bolland, 1.
' Hat and Gloves Race,' 75yds.—Miss R. Ritson, ]. .'
Boot and Coat and Thread the Ncedlo'Race, 100yds.—T.Tyree,!. '
Egg and Spoon Raco (for ladies), 50yds.— Miss .C. Farmer, 1.
Nail Driving Competition (ladies).—Mi6s V, Saxon, 1. '
Chain Stepping Competition.—P. V. Rowley, 1. Consolation Race (for ladies) —Mrs. J. W. Collins, 1. s A cricket match, Ladies v. Gentlemen, was also played. The picnic proved a most enjoyable function.
