'i ■ {, — A meeting of the Club was held at Young's Hotel last night to consider the amalgamation proposals as passed last week, Last week's resolutions were rescinded, and the "Epuni Club will, continue its career as before. Tho following officers were elected Patron, Mr. T. M. Wilford, M'.P.j president, Mr. J. Young; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. Lewis, M. Welch, W. Priugle, H. Hawthorne, M. Campbell, Gadby, C. Thorns, G. Dome, A. Pitt, O. W. Browne, W. A. Grace, and A. Pringle; Club captain, L'. Woods; vice-captain, B. M'Cauley; , hon. secretary and treasurer, F. Greig; auditor, J. Swain; delegate, M. Welch; management committee, S.- England, W. G. William, J. G. William, and W. Higginbotham; match committee, J. Bannister, W. Curtis, L.- Woods.
A special meeting of the Hutt District School Committee was hold last night, when arrangements were. made for tile annual presentation of prizes. ' Some very handsome special prizes were donated by several ; residents. It was decided tllat • the school prizes should bo obtained from, the local booksellers. It is intended to distribute the prizes in about a fortnight's time. The new schoolroom for tho Catholic School is now complete. For • some v time past tho accommodation has been quite inadequate, and litis addition, will b'o ! a" great boon to both teachers and scholars. Tho original schoolroom adjoining has also been thoroughly renovated. Mr. C. Wildsmith was the contractor for . the building. The funds were raised by tho recent Dominion bazaar. t
