Tho 9entonco of death passed by ' the oourt-martial on General Stoessel, for tlio dishonourable surrender of Port Arthur to tho Japanese, has been commuted by tho Tsar to imprisonment in a fortress for tcai years, exclusion from military'-'service, and loss of rank.
