H. : Hooper aiid-J. P. : Whitelaw ; . - .The annual, report,-. which was..-unanimously-: adopted, stated that._tho membership of the Association now stood at 193. - The social functions held: during tho past year had all', been verysuccessful/ and especially so the reception hold by_ tho president last May in honour of tho Now' Zealand Premier arid Lady' Ward, and tho Cinderella dance held last month, at tho Holborn Restaurant.' Tho Association had amply proved its usefulness as a centre for the New. Zealand "colony""'in London. Tho experiment of establishing permanent club rooms had not,' however, met with' suffir cient success to warrant tho committed keeping on tho rooms. x .The' annual rent, of £189 was too great a biifden on. tho Association's somewhat slender financial resources, and so little use was mado by members of the club rooms tlfat after two years' experience-it was ovident that thoy. wero a luxury for which thoro was no real .demand. Mr. Reeves, who presided,. and Dr. Parkinson, who moved tho ladoption of tho report, both spoke-hopefully and confidently of tho prospects of tho ciation. Although it wiis advisable,'for tho present, at any rate, to give up the club rooms un tho Westminster >Palaco Hot-el, there was amplo scopo for the Association in tho 'promotion of social intercourse amongst Now Zealanders resident in and visiting tho Old Country, and rooms could, easily be hired froriv'time to time as required. By avoiding tlio heavy burden of an .annual ..rent the Association would bo able to pay its way without impairing ' its usefulness.
