Forty-nine sacks of barley wero burned and new empty sacks, also.tho barn,< Workers.managed to parfily save a stack;-that was uncovered ready , for threshing,' but tho barlOy wiill.bo only .fit !for fowl feed. . Messrs.. O'Connor and Cook and Satherley, the thresher, ownors, will be heavy losers. . InVail the loss will bo about £400. The causo 'of the fire was ashes left when the thresher, stopped in tho forenoon. The Fire Brigade .was called out at 3.15 o'clock yesterday, afternoon 'to Toreador House, Clifton Terrace. It was'found that sonio'wearing apparel in tho washhousc had caught fire, but the flarnes' wereextinguished without much "damage"being done. ; A small outbreak-of,fire, occurred at Kelr burne on-Saturday night, .when the floor and fittings, of the front_part. of a dwelling occupied; by. Mr.". Albert I'rosser as, a bobtrrepairmg : shop were - damaged. Tho , outbreak .-is supposed ■to have been., caused by a man throwing: a lighted ; match -.down carelessly! The; damage is estimated at about £7. .
