St. . John's Presbyterian Church was crowded on Saturday afternoon, when Mr. E." A. Blundell, eldest son of. tho late Mr. Henry Blundell, of the " Evening Post," was married to Miss Linda M'Lean, only daughter of, > |Mr. NeilvM'Lean, of Wellington. The lie v. >.- J. Patorsoii, performed the ceremony. The . :bride wore a very charming frock of whito -.chiffon talfetas made ,in semi-empire style, •i'he.bodice.was made with a V-shaped yoke •of tulle and lace, and this.was draped with throe rows' of lioniton lace edged with silver tissue. The sleeves were of handsome -duchesse lace, and the folds of the lace in front were caught with a greatirose of silver tissue.' . The; skirt had a wide hem with French knots, and the double skirt, which fell in a v 'point back and'-front, was bordered r; with" : honiton; lace edged with; now bands of silver tissue.-. The waist-band, which 1 * gave the empire, effect, was of silver -tissue, worked; with ;true lovers' knots arid 'clover leaves..- The bridal, veil was of, tullo embroidered lavishly in.floss silk. 'The bride .- carried a bouquet of white-roses and chry- ; 'sa-nthemums with streamers of white tulle. There!: were three bridesmaids, each dressed; aliko,;but with oaclj wearing a large rose of a different colour, -and carrying bouquets-.-to; „ match. .'Their frocks of white chiffon taffetas ; -wjere ,also made in semi-empire, style, 'with-•.-, 'trimming - 'and' bell-shaped sleeves of hand-; , ' some 'rich -crochet lace, 'deep hem edged with '• silver:;tissuo, waistband of silver tissue, and greatljwhite sili'r'oses claspirig'the bodice in : 'front.*; The'hats,ivero'ot moss-green tulle and >velvet. Each of these was trimmed with . .bows of silk and one-magnificent rose. Miss .'Madgie M'Lean, . the jchiet bridesmaid, hada mauve rose, and carried a bouquet of rnarive flowei-s with ;mauve. streamers ; Miss Hay Ward had a ..golden. brown rose with, streamers ..to ~ ; match; and Miss Eileen Blundell's rose was ! pale pink to match ; her bouquet and streamers.. Little- Miss. Peggy • Tririgham, who wore a", white -.'lace-befrilled- frock- over 'white silk, and a rosebud hat, carried a, littlo posy, while her brother, who acted as, page, was iu white satin. Mr. C. Blundell was best. , .nian. Alter the. wedding a reception was held, at.tho. home of ,the bride's parents in Abel ' ' Smith Street,"where a wedding:breakfast was .served on the lawn in a'large marquee, which ' was drap«l-,-in :palo.;blue and white. -The table was" beautifully-decorated'with whiteflowers and ferns.; Over three hundred guests ; w;ere present. A band played-on tllo lawn,/ and iusido tho house, - which was decorated' with palms and flowtrs,'and'miisic was supplied by several 'musician's stationed oh. the stairs. Mrs.-M'Lean wore a dress of petunia taffeta wit-h very effective applique trimming on the ..- skirt, . and" cream, lace , yoke' and 'shoulder ' capes. With-,this she wore a.iulle.and velvet- .: hat of the same' rich shade ' with two long . plumes,- .and carried . a v bouquet. of roses, sweet peas,; and gloxinias, with, streamers;of p'etunia-j.pink. ' , '• ; The fortnightly meeting of the * Society for the Protection of Women and Children was held in the Society's rooms on Friday afternoon... Mrs. Atkinson presided, and the other members present were Mesdames-W. -Fell; Evans, Darvall, and Izard, Rev. Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, and Miss E.'B. Brown. A number of cases of alleged cruelty to children and wives wore dealt with, and it was reported that since last meeting one Court case had-been satisfactorily settled.; Several other cases wore reported on. ; subscriptions were acknowledged with thank?
