Upon entering'a bedroom• in tho Duko of. Edinburgh Hotel ht 9 o'clock yesterday morning a housemaid found that tho occu-' pant, Georgo 7 Saunders, : who arrived in tho Dominion from Sydney about two months ago, had attempted to commit suicide with, a razor. : Sounders was lying in a sonti-uncon-stato on tho bed,,, and there was ' a pool of blood, on'' the floor. Drs. M'Do'ugall' and Henry, who were promptly summoned, dressed tho man's wounds,, which consisted of a deep gash about five inches long in the throat-and a small'wound on tho, left .wrist. Subsequently, Saunders, who is "about. fifty . years of age, was removed to the hospital. The razor was found covered in .blood on the dressing'-tablo. .Among-Saunders's effects was a' prescription '■ from . a local, practitionef. Saunders, who is of temperate habits,- has a wife and two children residing at No. 229 Kappas, Surrey Hills, Sydney.
