Hyauiasmn, locksmith, of Auckland, was' engaged by the Government to go up and com.pleto tho work ,of opening the- safe: ■ On making examination he found the lock completely shattered. -.; Tho'' steel plates were broken, and all the rivets blown out. A dynainito cap and Tuso were found in the office, but it is believed, that a much stronger explosive than dynamite was used in tho bursting process. The thick steel plates wero bent arid broken, the rivets and fittings absolutely shattered, and the steel locks brokeii into two-pieces. Thp top casing was pretty well [blown right off. Had the intruders not boon alarmed'; another ten minutes' work would liavo been sufficient to onable them to secure tho contents of the safe, amounting to £70 or £80. .
