RIFLE SHOOTING.
Sir, —Having just spent a week at camp in Trenthara, and wishing to excel with the riflo at the running man, I would like to point out that it is almost impossible* to do bo under existing conditions —i.e., no• shots that hit .tho. njan-are-signalled at present. .It would be ■ very holpful if they woro sig- . : nailed on tho target, .but at present-this .is ' not done. Thero is nothing to holp anyono to. succeed. The one that is shooting has a protty . hard task before-, him. . Ho has to . allow: for'the, man .advancing, also, tho, wind,, ' sometimes two or three degrees, and if ho is : used to using .the? orthoptic he will-have to alter his elovation. Then, again, he must - get all his: sevon shots off in 0110 minute. If the shots wohs' signalled on. the target riflo- : men would bccomo twico as expert as at presolit, and consequently .would bo of far greater value if they wero ■ called out to defend tho Dominion at any time. —I am, etc., x . BUSH RAT. March 11. ■ (Our correspondent does not suggest how tho. signalling'is to be done- in the time available.)
