PREPARATIONS. THE CHIEF. FEATURES REVIEWED. The schedules for the National Dairy Show are-now in course of distribution, and already • considerable interest is manifest among intending exhibitors'., , The. great winter gathering apiwals'' to'many, as ;the leading event of tho year.', t Commencing on June 23,' it' conies at the' opportune time, when the farmer, especially he who is' engaged in dairying pursuits, looks forward to spending a holiday—a holiday of pleasure and instructiyeness combined. ;Visitors"'pour into Palmerston from all parts of New Zealand for thfc great event; arid the accommodation is taxed to its utmost capacity. It is surprising that a show' of such recent, birth should have risen with such meteoric' rapidity to take the highest rank among tho winter shows of the Dominion. In perusing the schedule, it will be found that, in addition to the usual instructive lectures, the Association caters for several divisions, including dairy, machinery,' dairy factory' products, fruits, garden,, vegetables, field .roots,, , school. gardens,. farmers' • school district display, home cookery, , fat stock, 'sheep,.'pigs, poultry, horse,'competitions, etc. Tho Butter Classes. In tho class for factory butter for export, prizes amounting to £50 are awarded, and, in- addition, a challenge cup;, valued at tweiityrfive guineas, goes to .'the, factory scoring the highest number of points!.. Another -important class .is, that - for .factory , buttei from bulk,' where the championship, of'Nciv! Zealand, under the auspices of 'tho . New Zealand, Factory Butter arid Cheese Makers!. This division will open up:a wide field for comparing the. growing qualities of the different districts.
