She instantly raised the alarm, and the Filey Eire Brigade, under Captain Gray,' assisted _by tho local police, worked, splendidly. Their efforts'were .successfully directed to preventing the spread of the firo to other parts of tho church, but'it was useless to endeavour to save the organ, which was already enveloped in flames;' and was entirely destroyed by cloven o'clock. When tho fires were lighted to .heat tho church for morning service everything was in order, and tho cause of tho outbreak cannot at present be definitely statcd.
