COMMONWEALTH REPRESENTATIVE APPOINTED. MR. JOHN COOKE TO ATTEND. .. The Prime Minister of tho Commonwealth. Mr. Alfred Doakin, has invited Mr. John . Cooke, head of tho firm of Messrs. John Cooke and Co., to bo tho sole representative of. the. Commonwealth at the International Congress of Refrigeration Industries, to be held in Paris next J trie under tho patronage of. vbo French Government. At tho conclusion of the congress he will ifurnisli tho Com- - nionwealth' Government with a report on tho deliberations. Mr. Cooko has acceded to the request, and left by the Macedonia last.-month for Europe. .. Mr-Cooke's firm is largely engaged in the export of refrigerated products from Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, and South Anstra.lia, and may be said to possess, in this respect, a.Federal/status. Mr. Cooke is also well known in New Zealand. He was one'of tho founders, and oue of the first directors, of both the Canterbury frozen meat companies. In Argentina, also, he has had an extensive connection, and it is only quite recently' that lie disposed of. his interests in that country. His firm has . operated very largely m the South Island of New Zealand during three seasons past, and, as .recently reported in The Dominion, has noiV made a footing in the North Island, with head office at Wellington.-Ihustsew Zealand, as well as the Commonwealth, is interested in Mr. Cooke's appointment to the ..Congress, . . w„u;„w+,™ The Erin's representative m Wellington is Mr. E.
