Invercarglll, March 4. • The principal-item of interest in the local regatta to-day was tho Interprovincial Fours for the Edmonds Challenge Shield, which has been hold by Southland for about five years. Tho Otago crew (Sandcs, Hutchison, Paton, Whitaker str.)' was considered .likely, but had no'chanco with ' Campbell, Johnston, Brown, and Basstian, the last three of whom have been .in the winning crow. for some years. The Southland men, rowing well within themselves, took a gradual lead, and held it, winning oomfortably by about a length and a half.
