The -Mayor-was. absent through illness. v'' ... • .-. .The Wellington Harbour Board' submitted a'.draft; agreement- in connection with the Council's understanding to prevent' the' discharge of- deleterious matter-tlirough-the' Bona Bay. culvert into the harbour. The draft agreement was approved, subject to, the-Mayor's concurrence. It Was resolved to seek tho advice ofthe District Health Officer in the matter -of ,keeoing. the.stream iclean. ,: I,;--.. , The'clerk j reported that, the,.street-lighting, though improved/-'was, still unsatisfactory.,: He was directed to bring the matter again under, the company'sinotice. . ' ■' The;'Clerk'' was instructs .to invite further tenders for: survey levels of.' roads, the' Public Works Committee to have power to'act. - ; ■ A plan of tho main road, showing the position of . the> standard ; traverse blocks, was received. from, the - District . Survey Office. In. this connection, tho'J Public Works .Committee brought''-down- a recommendation 'that a sur-. Lveroy should be employed to fix the. road boundaries' of 'all" properties' where such;'boundaries were apparently wrong. The recommendation was; adopted. I '; The committee also recommended that an'Bftr.fpotpath : be'', formed north and south'.-'from 1 -Fabian Street,'along.Ma'rineParade, as; far as 'dedicated. This recommendation was also adopted.'- . - /Further consideration was given to the gues-. tion of water supply, and- a sub-committee, consisting .of ."Councillors .Danks,, M'Kcegan, and the Town'Clerk','was appointed to obtain further information. ■ 1 ' • •>■ The Clerk's action in applying to' the Harbour Board< for- permission-to remove gravel from t beach; was approved, and it was. agreed. •to.give effect.to the stipulations-.of tho Board in granting tho. request, viz.—to.- prevent, as far as possible,, tho, removal:of, gravel' by unauthorised'person's, arid to' do''nothing f that will detrimentally affect the beach or prejudice tho right of the 1 public thereto.' ' 1 - The acceptance of Messrs. ifritGon and Co.'s •tender for, the supply of cenieut,was-confirmed, Tho Clerk reported the. result" of conference upon proposed Jlutt Bridge, at which conference the Mayor represented the; Council. Mr. W. S. Short, icommissioner appointed by the Governor for tho adjustment of accounts between the Corporation and the Ilutt'County Council, intimated that the inquiry would bo held on March 3, at 10.30 a.m. It was resolved that .the Mayor and tho Clerk be invested with full power'to act in such manner .as. they think best in the\mritten .
