Napier, February 29. • At the inquest on Henry Wilton, plasterer, who died from injuries sustained by falling from a scaffolding at tho Caledonian Hotel, a verdict of accidental death was returned,: tho jury adding a rider to' the effect that more care should bo taken in testing timber for tho ercctiori of scaffolding. ' THE MOTOR FATALITY. : Chrlstchurch, March 1. S. R. Merrett, who "was injured in . the motor-car accident on Saturday week, died 'at tho hospital at 5 o'clock this morning. After hearing the evidence of Dr. Crooko, house surgeon ,at ; the hospital, as to. tho condition of Merrett when admitted, the inquest was adjourned to March 5, in order to allow of further inquiries being, made aa to the exact cause of the accident.
