A Royal Commission sitting at Ottawa finds , that tho collapse of. tho Quebec Bridgo was due to a dofect in'.the design, namoly, lack of "proper provision for tho maximum strain •on the central span, which was too great for supporting its' members. The cantilever bridge built,, over the St' Lawrence River, near -Quebec, collapsed in August-last. ..Ninety men were labouring on the structure at the time of tho accident. Tho bridge swayed, and, with' a crash, shot'out' from the direction of the shore into'the St Lawrence River. .
