ANNUAL REPORT.
-. The fourteenth annual report to be presented at a meeting on March 3. of the Swifts' Football Club, congratulates the club on the very excellent : p6sition which it has attained. Last, season's performances wore exceptionally good, and nave ''undoubtedly laid solid.foundation for this:'coming: season;, Tho,.; senior-eleven, winners of the senior league, ' did excellently all through the season, winning every' match except two ,in the senior contest; one being , lost and one drawn. ■ They also qualified'for,-th6 : Charity' 1 Cup final,, and , in., the play' off warp '.unsuccessful, b'oaten by' Rovers by J 1 to 1 nil. '' The junior elefren, . winners,' of the junior,-, league,- '.had-j.jan:. unbeaten record, in'. thii -junior league contest, really a first-' class' performance, but. lost the semi-final for the. Challenge-Cupi contest, being-: beaten, by;, St. . John's : .by 1 to nil. The fourth-" class eleven, winners of , tho, fourth class Challenge Cup, and also ruriners'-up for.the fourth league'contest, hiust be congratulated on their success; tho form shown by this team'being-bf a'''high' 'order.' '' " ! :• i Tho, boys', team, although not so successful,. secured third placo'.'in the'' fifth leaguecontesti; and much praisp'-is-duo; to these, lads-, for' the keen .manner jii which '.they :played : their-games. If' they are coached< and looked after by the elder members the Club will benefit a great deal thereby. ■ A junior B team was also entered for the junior competition, but owing to a few members leaving tho city, and others being transferred to tho-A team to fill vacancies, the' committee found it -necessary to-withdraw.iti It is also a matter for regret that a third eleven was not entered- last season, but tho committco will endeavour to place a team inevery competition, this coming season. .. Tho following mombers wero chosen in senior representative matches:—J! M. Oilier, J. H. Pye-Smith, and F. S. Elson. Mr. J. H. Pye-Smith was unablo to obtain leavo of absence owing to business duties.
