An ordinary meeting of the Wellington City Council was held last night. In the unavoidable absenco of tho Mayor, Councillor J. P. Luke was voted to tho chair, and there woro • iilso present:—Councillors; Godberj Morrah; M'Laren, Carmichael, Fletcher, Biss ( Fisher, Shirtcliffo, Haynes, Ballinger, and Cohen.
