DISTURBANCE ON. :A- TRAIN. V ' : <BV TELIiGIIAI'U—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.),Auckland, February 26. During the past few months tho residents, of Otahuhu have been' complaining of.- r the disorderly conduct of a few of tho. passengers who journey from Auckland by tho. late train leaving town at ll p.m. and arriving at Otaliuhu at .11,40 p.m. On Saturday : ovening a passengor was, it is 'alleged, and an extraordinary and unseemly 'disturbance was created on the train.' It is-alleged' that' when tho train had-almost'Teached Newmarket five young - men--att-ackt-d a '.fellow passenger, named William Josoph-'Wintore. It is stated that' they . seized -Winterd' on somo pretext and dashed" liim, against the wiudow of' tho carriage, tho-'glass ,-boing, smashed. -Wiiiterc woiit out oii to-the platform whero, ho was, it-is alleged, again assaulted. At the Glasgow 'Freezing - Works' the train stopped,- and tho man was obliged to get off. Finding himself pursued: lio -'ran ■ along tho railway track, .and,.after goiug some distance lie fell down a culvert between the rails in an- exhausted, condition. The others,; it is asserted, came up,., and' after using somo obscene languago towards liim, dragged him off tho..line, the .train passing immediately.'afterwards.'- Soon afterwards tho men decamped!, '. ■■ Wintero .has since been in the bands of a doctor. Tho police at Otahuhu took the, matter -in hand, and fivo young men were arrested. ' Thejr: wero charged with the assault before tho Polico Court at'Otahuhu.' A remand of eight days was, applied for and .granted:
