The Conciliation Bipard sat hero this morning in connection with the butter workers 1 dispute, 'i'ho Chairman intimated that tho employers had not accepted tho invitation to bo present, and stated that the members'.of tho Board would have to visit tho factories. The Board this afternoon drove round to several .dairy factories in tho district, including tlie_ Dairy Union Bunnythorpe, Makino, and Awahuri' factories, to secure practical evidence from the workers. It is understood that the Board . has visited several factories on both. coasts, and found that small factories wero.greatly opposed to classification, as they .considered it tho thin end of the wedge to squeezo out tho small factories.
With reference to tho shearers''dispute, a short sitting will bo held to-morrow, aud within a few days tho Board will wait upon Mr. Abbott at tho Wanganui Hospital, in order 'to procure his 'signature.. It is understood that Mr. Abbott will not bc'ablo to leave, the institution for some time, but is making fair progress.
