Luke.' \ OTAKI HOSPITAL AND SANATORIUM. ; L The matron of the Otaki Hospital 'reported that, during the month .of •, January, 10 patients hud been, admitted, and 7 discharged, there being now/ under treaitmeiit'O male and G female patients.''' •• \ ' v .' On-January-; 24 an operation for■ '-'bone-wir-iit'i - .under an anaesthetic,': was performed. on one of the patients. Matters were reported to bEvsatisfactory, the Hospital being; very busy, report ;for/the :Qtaki. Sanatorium stated that' since .the last "meeting 4 male and 1 female-patienis. had -been admitted, making a total of 21.- The room- for the accommodation of the .night-nurse had been built, and the electric .pump fitted, up; THE YEAR'S FINANCES. ■' The -statement of'- receipts and expenditure for. the period priding January 31, 1908, was as followsßeceipts: balance on April 1,; 1907, £3G2 18s. lid.;-contributions from local bodies,-£10,119 12s. Id.; Government subsidies, £9999 15s.;Sd.';' patients' fees, Otaki Sanatorium, £127 155.; patients' fees,' Otaki--Sanatorium, £192 10s;; donations, £G1 12s;-6d.-; overdraft, £2127 ss. Cd. Total, £22,991 9s. sd. Expenditure: Wellington Hospital, £15,410 18s. 4d.; Otaki Hospital,; £IG4 95.; Otaki'Sanatorium, £G139 14s; 4(1.; other • expenses; £270 12s. 9d. Total, £22,991 9s. sd. The financial statement, for February showed that the credit .balance at the bank was, £1287 18s. lid.; Government subsidy (now due), £3602 10s. 3d.; assets oyer liabilities (credit to carry forward), £2958' 16s. 3d. Kirk, the estimates were provisionally approved. l — . - , .It was 'decided to erect a cottage for the resident engineer at the Otaki- Hospital, the cost.to be'£4oo.;. The statutory meeting, to pass the estimates and make apportionments, will be held on Wednesday next, February 26. Don't bo too hard on the man who is always telling ydii his troubles!
