Mannion, had a somewhat exciting experienco while proceeding homo about midnight oil Sunday. He was driving in a light trap, and had occasion to pass along a road through the domain. Suddenly a man jumped out, from t-lio roadside,- and endeavoured' to catch- hold 'of tho horse's head, but }lr. Mannion dexterously, handled the reins, with* the result that tho man got knocked down, and . ono wheel passed over him. On looking round, Mr. Mannion perceived another man coming towards him in a menacing attitude,. whereupon, deciding that discretion would ■ pay' best under : the circumstances, -he whipped up tho animal, and got out of the way as quickly as possible. Mr. Mannion. is of opinion that tho men concerned wero camping in tho i)omaini as t-horo was a small firo lighted,--evidently for' tho purpose of cooking. After reaching his homo at Epsom, ho communicated-with tho police. A good many complaints have been made lately respecting the undesirablo characters at present-infesting the domain both day and night.
