Colonel Ross-Keppel's column from Landi Kotal functioned with General Willocks's brigade unopposed. The British have occupied most of tlio strongest positions in the Bazar Yalloy. A number of tho Zakka Khels attacked a forco'of Sikhs, which was escorting a large convoy to Chinar. Tho Sikhs charged, carrying a hi[rh hill, with two casualties. TRIBESMEN'S GUERRILLA TACTICS. AMMUNITION SPENT. (Rec. Feb. 18, 9.38 p.m.) Calcutta, February 18. Tho Zakka Khels are chiefly armed with Martini rifles, but are suffering from a scarcity of ammunition. ' -. , The tribesmen avoid engagements and harass pickets and convoys. The sphere of operations covers an area of twonty miles by ten- miles in the western corner of the Bazar Valley. The ground is of a difficult nature for military operations; Afridi tribesmen other than tho Zakka Khels show no desire to participate in the operations.. . , , , General Willcocks commands 2008 British and 8622 native troops. / ~
