"NOTICE is hereby given tliat at n Special ■ Meeting of the Wellington City Council, held, on THURSDAY, the 30th day of January, 11)08, the following Resolution was passed, viz. The Council of tho City of Wellington, acting for and on behalf of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the said City, hereby makes and ordains (by Special Order/ the following By-laiv, under and by virtue of and in exercise or pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900," "The Public Health' Act; 1900," "The Wellington City Drainage Empowering Act, 1891," "Tho Cemeteries Act, 1882," and the several Acts amending the same respectively, and of all powers and authorities contained in each and every other Act or authority in anywise enabling, the Council in that behalf. AND notice is hereby further given that the said resolution will be submitted for confirmation at the Ordinary' Meeting of the Wellington City Council, to be held' on THURSDAY, the 27th day of February, 1908, at tho''Council Chambers in the Town Ilall, Cuba Street, at 8 p.m., when the date on' which the said By-law will come into forcc will be. fixed. A copy of the said By-law is deposited, for .public inspection at tho office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, Town Ilall, Cuba Street, and may be, inspected there by . all persons during' ordinary office hours. The object and ■ purport of the above-men-tioned By-law is to consolidate, amend, and include /all the existing By-laws of the City, with various alterations and addition, and for that purpose to repeal all such By-laws in force in the said City.' ( The said By-law makes provisions and' regulations for the following purposesln relation to Streets, sundry offences in connection therewith, general provisions concerning streets, the traffic thereon, the use thereof, injuries to and nuisances thereon, and the construction of things upon, over, or under the same; in relation to Buildings, general provisions respecting their sites, foundations, construction, arrangement/ and 'repair, tli'e jnode in which and the < materials 1 with ■ which they arc to bo erected and repaired, for secuiV ing stability, prevention of fire, public safety And for purposes of health, and for regulating buildings of a public character, building districts, frontages,' aiid .open-air spaces,, and' the prevention. of overcrowding; in relation to Public Buildings, Enclosures and .Grounds; provisions as to buildings or enclosures and places of assemblage for public meetings, performances, exhibitions, entertainments or 'amusements, .and to public grounds for athletic sports or games; also to the licensing", inspection and control thereof respectively; in relation to Drainage, Sanitation and Nuisances, general provisions respecting the drainage and plumbing of buildings and the appliances and conveniences connected' therewith, the prevention of refuse accumulation, and prescribing .receptacles, regulating' : or.' preventing the keeping of animals, regulating 'the use of stables, the prevention and abatement. of nuisances, tho conservation of public health, safety and convenience, the inspection of lands, buildings, or premises, and generally , regulating tho premises; in relation .to Private Drain Connections, Covering-in of Water-courses, and Drainage, and Sanitation, 1 under "The Wellington City Drainage 1 Empowering Act, 1894"; in relation to Water-' works and Water Supply, and prescribing regulations; in relation to Vehicles (inclusive of motor cars), general provisions. as to tho licensmg of vehicles,', also as to drivers and ■others.having charge of vehicles; the licensing thereof, and regulating- their conduct, also' fixing fares and charges and street 1 standings in connection With licensed vehicles; in relation to the prevention of danger from fire, the storage of dangerous goods, .firo escapes, electric light and power; fitters, and generally conserving public safety; in relation to exceptional traffic on., streets, the licensing of traction engines, moior waggons and delivery, vans, and regulating tho weight and 'route thereof and otherwise; in relation to reserves, parks and public recreation grounds, and re- . gulatmg the use and management thereof, tho preservation': of. order therein, and for protecting the property of the Corporation;' in relation to Billiard-room 6, and the licensing, regulation and control thereof;* in'rela'-: tion to the Public Library and tho Branch Libraries, and regulating the use and control thereof; in relation to Dairies.and the licensing thereof, and : prescribing and regulating the inspection, ventilation, etc., thereof,, and generally regulating milk supply; in relation to tho Public Baths and Bathing, and tho' control and regulation thereof 'respectively;', iii -relation to the Cemetery established'by the Council, situate at Karori, and regulating the use and management thereof, also for regulating the use and management of any other cemetery under. the control .'of the Coulicil;' in relation to Hawkers and Pedlars and keepers of, coffee, or other, street , stalls, and'the licensing arid regulating the conduct thereof;'' in relation to porters, criers and bell-ringers, and the licensing and regulating the conduct thereof; in relation to public health, ■' safety and convenience, the protection of' tho property of the Corporation,' supplementary provisions afiectinp previous parts' of the Bylaws and subsidiary provisions. Relating-' to the good'rule and government of the Citv; and providing generally for the good rule aiid government of,,.the City, in, respect also -of matters incidental to the matters .above, specially mentioned or referred- to,' or any of them. . , WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. NOTICE is hereby given,'that at'a Special Meeting of tho Wellington City Council, held on Thursday, the 30th day. of January, 1908, the following resolution was passed,' viz.■' The Council of the City of Wellington, acting on behalf of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the said City, lieroby ' makes and ordains (by special order) tho following' by-law, under or by virtue or in pursuance of the provisions of "The Tramways Act, 1894," and under or irt pursuance of all and every other powers •or authorities (if any) enabling the Council in that behalf and for tho purpose l of . /emulating the carrying on of the undertaking of the Wellington City Tramways, and ordering the traffic thereof and of all extensions of such undertakings made or to be .made of which undertaking the Council are "The 'Promoters" ■ within ' the ■ meaning of the said Act.
