UNDERWRITERS' PICNIC.
. . ——« : — Between two and three hundred guest 6 attended the Underwriters' annual picnic "at Treutham Racecourse yesterday, .whither they wore conveyed by special train. . Better picnio weather could not have been desired, and tho party could speak of their outing only in superlatives. At the luncheon. Mr.. Charles I'carce (vice-chairman of the Wellington Tiro Underwriters' Association! presided, ■ and; in proposing the toast , of the visitors, heartily thanked the stewards of the Wellington Racing Club for their courtesy in granting the uso of tho grounds. Mr. J. B. Harcourt, president of the club, replied. Results of the races and other'events were as follow ; . "Electric Light" handicap (200yds.)—Disher, 1 i Anderson, 2. "Contiguity race " (100 yards) —Sellars, 1; Callender, 2.-'lnsurance 1 handicap (100 yards)—Disher,- 1; Davis, 2. Medley race—Ritchie, 1; M'Cardell, 2.. Reinsurance relay race—Sellars, 1; 'Cullender, 2. Insurance -handicap (200 yards)—Disher,.l; :Ncwbold, 2, Ladies' race—Miss Carter.' Insurance handicap' (400 yards)—UatclilTo,, 1; Davis, 2. The insurance handicap was won by Disher.: Mrs. William Gill presented the prizes. •' 5
