Yesterday he was out twice, doing easy work in the morning and a good solid rdw in the afternoon. He repeated'this to-day, his afternoon row being particularly ■■ noticoable for the splendid power in his strokes. The champion was going along in grand swinging . style, Green havitig to row five: strokes to nis four to live with Tiim. Green shows improvement, and,is doing faster work on tho upper river than when in town. p
Trcsidder is also rowing twice >a day. After a long row to Upokongaru yosterday morning ho decided that moro; work would not harm him, and rowed over tho whole courso, which; with tho extra distance from the hotel, made seven miles, or fourteen for the day. This .morning he showed a little more dash than heretoforCj and, iti company •with Ford, skipped merrily over tlic last milo and . a half of his task. „ Ho was out again this afternoon, his work being moro of tho plugging order. The scullers are still favoured with magnificent' weather, and so far the wator conditions on the uppor courso have boen all that could be desired. •
Mr. J. T. Hogan, . M.P. for Wanganui, who is at prosent visiting Wellington, lias urged the Minister for Railways to arrango for a night train to run through to Wanganui from Wellington tho night before tho Webb-Tresidder match: for tho. rowiiig championship of tho world. Mr. Hogan says that many people pressed for time would i>a glad to take a day off to see the race; arid ho has suggested that a train should leave Wellington at 9 p.in; on Monday, February 24, arriving at Wanganui in time to catch the earliest (and bheapest) boats l)roceediiig up tho river. The traiir could leave again tlifi same evening, and arrive back in Wellington oarly on February 26. The Minister is considering the matter, which would bo ono for negotiation with the AVellington and Manawatu Company. An early decision would enable the public to" make their arrangements. . ,
