OTEKAIKE ESTATE ENQUIRY.

A special meeting of the Otago Land JBoard was held yesterday to' consider the cases of Messrs McKellar and Mitchell, in connection ivith the Otekaike estate. Mr Hoskingj, K.C., appeared for McKellar and Mitchell, and Mr. 3: Cook watched the proceedings on behalf of Kobert Campbell and Sons. Mr. Hosking said his clients objected to the procedure, and.though they would afford the Board, the fullest information, they retained all their rights. Should the Board decide against them, ..and that decision be upheld, .that .would probably not be the last heard of it. Both McKellar and Mitchell gavo evidence to. the effect that they had been employed by Kobert Campbell and Son continuously for a period of five,years, and bad been deprived of employment by the sale of Otekaike to the Government. Similar evidence was given by R. 0. Campbell, managing director of the company. After :.the evidence closed, Mr. Hosking asked if, the question of legality would be made tho subject of a rgport, and on being, informed in the negative he again said he did not assent to the propriety of tho profwWlmga,
