ARC-OVAL BILLIARDS.
There was a large gathering at the Wellesley Club last evening to witness a game by two professional billiard players, T. C. Bragge and .1. Smith, on au arc-oval billiard table. This table is stated to be tlio first of its kind made in Australasia, and prior to last night it had on'y been used for practice. Messrs. Alcock und Co., of. Wellington,'are the firm who'have thus taken time by the forelock. The outlino of tho table is composed of four arcs of circles combined to form a figure closelv resembling an ellipse.. It places at the disposal of the player a large number of angles not available on the old-fashioned billiard table, and thus:_ provides a fascinating game. The play l aß t night. wan keenly watched by over 100 gentlemen, and tho merits of. the new table were tho subject of much, appreciative comment. The exhibition game was won by Bragge,. tue scorei being: Bragge 376, Smith 331. >
