HERETAUNGA BOATING CLUB.
One of the most exciting races hold under the' auspices of the Horetaunga Boating Club was saifod on Saturday afternoon. ; It was tho third and final for Commodoro Koir's medal, three boats conipeting. The boats made fast and close running in a fresh 'nor'-wester to tho Island buoy, Messrs. Macdonald and Bittol's Maliau beinj: first round, followed 15sec. later by Mr. Koir's Clara, Mr! Colquhoun's Oil Bias being SOsec. behind the Clara. On tho beat to tho ICoro Kor'o some very nasty puffs wero' encountered. Tho. Maliau had tho ill-luck to carry awny lior throat halyard, but, it was soon reetifiod, the second buoy being rounded by the Maliau two minutes ahead\of the Gil Bias, with the Clara'six minutes away. Tho home , buoy was reached by tho Maliau 3>min. ahead of the Gil Bias, the Clara finishing 7imin. behind tho Maliau. Following are the details:— Clara (9min.), lhr. 7min, .... j Mahau (scr.), 59Jmin. 2 Gil Bias (2min.), lhr. 3min. 3 Tho next race takes placo on Saturday for all Club boats, tho course being round the Island and homo. . ,
