BOARD, ITS DUTIES. Undor tho Public Service Classification Act of last session provision was hiado for tbo constitution of il Hoard to classify tha public services.' .'flic Board was, to consist of a Minister of tho Crown nntl heads of departments appointed from timo to timo by tho Governor. ,Tlio number of the appointments Is limited to tcli, excluding the Minister of tho Crown. ; ; Yestorday Cabinet appointed tho following officers to bo members of tlm Board:— The' Right Hon, the Prdmlef (Sir Joseph Ward). Colonel Collins (Secretary to the Treasury)! Mr, Hugh PcMien (Under-Secretary for internal Affairs); Mr. W. T. Glasgow (Secretary and lik speotof of Customs). / Mr. H. J. H. aiow (Under-Secretary tor . Public Worlis). x Mr. T. H. Hartler (Under-SecrotSry for Mines). i , Mr, J. D, Ritchie (Secretary for Agriculture); Mr. T. E. It. will bo the duty of tho Board to classify tho public servaAts into three divisions; according to salaries, as iset out in tho Act and by schedule. . Tho Railways Department and tho Postand Telegraph Department, which, already have classification schemcs of their own, are not to bo included;- and tho Act shall not apply also to any responsible Minister of tho Crown, , any.
