SOMETHING ABOUT PIGS.

:• Tho, Wairarapa buyer for one of the bacon companies, informed our Wairarapa correspondent,.that tho. dry weather, had been a severe? set back to. farmers who'were raising hogs. Ho instanced a caso where a farmer had had his crop of peas ruined and his pastures burnt. His pigs at the'time wanted about a fortnight's good feeding in'order'to bo topped off, and. tho farmer tried all. over the wairarapa for'pollard, without any success. Tliero were other cases, said the' buyer, where he had been promised pigs on a certain day only, to find that tho farmer' had sold them before tho time,' tho excuse being insufficiency of food. The buyer expressed tho opinion-; that farmers in future should grow more peas. -It was well worth tho trouble-. ' Prices now were 4Jd. per pound against 2Jd. a few-years ago. Tho market was activo, and th 4' 'demand-for' Now Zealand consumption exceeded tho supply.' ,"In a few years time" said tho buyer, "these coinpanios may make fortunes,out of, hogs, as .has "been done in ■America." ;

' Messrs. Morrison Bros., of Blairlogie, Wairarapa, have subdivided their 16,000-acro property into two sections, of 9000 and 7000 acres respectively. Ono section will bo occupied by Mr. H. Morison, the other by Mr. 11. Morison. It is Mr. 11. Morison's 'intention (writes our Wairarapa correspondent) to erect a most modern- dwelling on his block at an early date*
