Mr. Smuts, Colonial Secretary to the Transvaal, has accepted the assuranco of leaders of tho Asiatics that they will make voluntary registration effective. Tho sentences passed on all prisoners, have boon remitted, and finger-prints will ho dispensed with in the case of educated Indians or property owners, and others who could he identified. Mr. will allow all Indians, who are entitled to register, an opportunity .to register (Jiiring tho ne?;t three months. No information offending religious susceptibilities will be asked, i. ■ . .
