In tho Dominion 1 House of Common's a resolution moved by tho loador of tho Conservative Opposition, Mr. R. L. Borden, protesting against tho Government's arrangements relating to'Japaneso immigration, was negatived by a majority of 55. • 1 ' Tho, Premier, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, declared that ho knew Japan did not include in the Anglo-Japanese treaty; of 1894 a clause restricting'immigration, "We are," said tho Premier, "in a better position without such provision than is tho. United States with it,, because we rely on Japan's good faith.", ~, ,- ,' . ■ Referring to the value of the Anglo-Jap-iineso Alliance, the Premier remarked that in tho event ol war they might fee the fleets of Japan ,and \Britain united in tho North Pacific against a common enemy.
