v.iSir,—As tho next session of Parliament will no doubt be. faced with tho question of ■' whether all public' documents/ 'etc., should bo removed, to an inland centre whero thoro would bo less danger .from. tho Dominion's.enemies at time of war, 1 take this opportunity of stirring, up public interest beforehand. Because in the past tho. Dominion,.has' Been free, from such troubles is "no reason why wo should not anticipate them; especially .'as tho Asiatic nations are. showing such ,great : unrest. When Asia; is properly awakened ;tho Pacific/will bo tho centre of a great cop? flict between tho Asiatics mid Europeans, and tho Japs havo already, shown what, they, ca)i d 0."., Who can toll 'but'.that within' tho next few years wo may havo to defcild our shores against Japs or Chinese or even a combination of such' races. When any of these, .peoples,jMcji.m.o^aroJpfv'their real strength,', wo;in Australasia will'have to fight to live;'! therefore, it us to transfer all; valuable, public, documents to an easily;, defended secure inland city, and to my mind, no, locality mentioncd.no far,in;tho.daily'.Presi' can 'claim so many advantages .as tho Government town ..of, Rotorua.-' It. is at present/ all leasehold, .it is easily defended,,.there r is ilnljmited water, supply, for electriii'. trac-tion,-lighting, etc. Tho dovernment by making this tho centro would be only enhancing tho value' of its own property, and the, sale of tho present dislocated premises on tho Quay and elsewhere would moto than recoup tho Government for tho cost of more up todato buildings, at Rotorua, tho,building material of which could be tho.samo as that employed in building the magnificent bath house at-present Hearing completion in tho sanatorium grounds, viz., ccment and pumice.
