HASTINGS.
January 30. At Heslop's sale this afternoon a block containing 173 acres, and situato near Oknwa, mis sold to .Mr. Jaines Spenco, of Napier. for £15 10s. per acre. Part of sectinii 77, Queen Street, with two cottages, was sold lo Mr. Dennis Donovan for £840.' At a meeting of the 1009 Band Contest Committee it, was decided to approve of the action of the secretary in applying to the North Island Brass Bands' Association to hold the. 1000- contest, hero. It was decided that the amount of prize-monoy ho equal to that given at any previous North Island contest. A committed was appointed to make arrangements for accommodating the visiting bandsmen.
