——« ; EVENING SPORTS MEETING. There was a largo attendance at the Basin Reserve last night, wheu the Civil Service .A..1.C. held its third' evening sports meeting of the season. The programme consisted of three events—l2o,yds. flat..mile running handicap, and long jump. Competition was. keen ■in each event. Thero were thirteen starters in the 120 yds. race, which was fun in two heats. Among the competitors was H. T. Cook, of Nelson (the holder of the. 120 yds. hurdle championship N.Z.A.A.A.), who won his heat off the lO.vds. mark, but obtained only third place in the final. Murray, the winner of the mile handicap, led throughout the last. lap. 11. T. Thompson, who kept, at his heels, challenged him at the last bend, bat Murray shook him off easily. sluc.li interest centred in the long jump, for which there wero five competitors.
