Beautiful weather prevailed, and the attendance was large, to-dav being Anniversary Day and a public holiday. Notwithstanding that the fields in tbo majority of instances wero small, there was some good racing, and a couple of capital finishes resulted. Twenty-one bookmakers were betting, and the sum. of £9097 10s. was put through the machines oil the eight races forming the programme, a reduction of £2146 on the same (lav last year. A. Gray, rider of Tanglefoot,, 'in the. steeplechase, sustained concussion of the brain when the horse fell, and was removed to the hospital.
