Tho night was~~cool, and oven at 7 o'clock in the morning the temperature was only 59 dogrees'; but after that it rose by leaps'; arid bounds. At 9 o'clock it was nearly 80; at 10, it was 87.12 at noon, 5&.6; at 1 o'clock, 92.6; at three, 93.8; and at 4 o'clock, 95.3., A-gentle nor'wester, nolenough to move tho dust to aiiy extent, added to the heat, and considerably increased tho discomfort of those who had. to bo outsido. The worst oi the heat, however, was passed between 4 and 5 m >tho and later on a cool easterly breczo rovived tho • wiltod towii. The effcct of the heat was tho extraordinary loss of pigs at the Addington saloyards.
