THE STARTING AT THE TRENTHAM MEETING.

Sir.—Being a spectator at your race meeting on Saturday, at Trenthaui, I admit I saw much to admire in the, management there, but in the matter of the starting and the manner in which it was carried out iu two races —fho Summer Handicap and Disposal Stakes —was simply disgraceful, and 1 feel quite sure that 1 voice the opinion of the majority of the pubic present that, it was so. Therefore if the stewards had done their duty they should have called upon tho starter for an explanation, instead of winking at his conduct. It is to be hoped that when the next meeting eventuates should there be a repetition of such farcical starting, that the ofhcial concerned will be brought ,to his senses. —I nm, etc., _ WM. F.RASER. , Vhito Horse Hotel, Wellington. January 26.
