SHEARERS' CLAIMS.
FARMERS' UNION MEETINGS. [by TELEGRAm.—OWN CORRESrONDENT.] Palmcrston North, January 25. The Pnlnicrston Farmers' Union held a special meeting in camera to-day for. the purpose, of considering the shearers' claims. A lengthy discussion ensued, and the result will bo brought before the provincial association at a meeting on Thursday next. Hastings, January 25. A meeting of the local committee 'of tho Farmers' Union, set up to consider the Shearers' Union's claims, was held this afternoon, and was well-attended. Tho claims were carefully gone through, and dolegates were appointed to attend tho meeting of the Contra! Committee, which is to bo held at an early date at Palmcrston North. Mr. John A. Frasef was appointed secretary. ... The Railway Department announces holiday excursion tickets for the Pahiatua rnco days, next Thursday and Friday. The tickets will bo available for return until February 15.' The annual pleasure cruise of the Ngapuhi along the Northern coast from Auckland begins on February 14, and will last until February 22.
