JlKpriw) referred to the new regulations and the scale of fees drawn «p by tho Government, which scale, ho said, was entirely ultra vires, as the only body empowered by statute to issue a scale of charges was tho Council of tho Institute; Referring to tho mention made in tho report of tho examination for licensed surveyors, to tho effect that tho results of tho\recent examinations had been so disappointing, only six out of forty-five from all over Australasia. succeeding in satisfying the cxaminors as to their competency, that the Councrl felt it incumbent to record their opinion that there appeared to be somo cause or causes operating in the conduct of tho examination that called for alteration. The president, said that the nature of the examination was absurd, from a practical point of view. The matter was being taken up by the Council, and lie trusted that the result would be a more practical and com-mon-sense examination.
