The members of the Wellington District: Branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation of Now Zealand will welcome the Hon. W. Hall-Jones upon his return from England, on Wednesday evening. Mr. Leo. Buokeridge will leave for Nelson to-day with the intention of. giving a concert there on Thursday nest. Mr. J. Vigor Brown, Mayor of Napier, is mentioned as a probable candidate for tho INapior seat at tho General Election. ■ The Chief Justice of Victoria, Sir John Madden, accompanied by Miss Madden and Colonel Campbell, has returned to Wellington after sponding a holiday at Rotorun and Auckland. Sir''John, who roturncd by way of the Wanganui River, intends leaving for tho South this evening. Mrs. Ethol It. Do Costa, LL.B. (nee Mjss Ethel R. Benjamin, of Dnnedin), after practising for some years in that city, has commenced practice ns a barrister and' solicitor in No. 6 Nathan's Buildings, corner Grey and Featherston Street, Wellington. Mrs. Do Costa has tho distinction of being tho only lady practising at the Bar in the Dominion. Inicndtnff clients can dopend on prompt and careful attention at Mrs. Do Costa's hand#.
Mr. A; Burns, sub-editor of the Christchurch " Press," who has many friends in Wellington, has Jiecn seriously. indisposed, but is now progressing satisfactorily. 1 The Premier to-day is at Westport, the Hon.
