' Chairs and lounges had been placed svkmg tho sides-of tho lawn,, and on the terrace overlooking it choro wero. garden. seats, whe.ro ' one, cpuld rest- and watch the gay shifting' colours - of tho'crowd as tho guests moved about. It was perfect weather for an outdoor function. 1 hat. was overyono's first rein ark, and the .accond .was, " it. is .so niuqbi'nicer when one •cjn havo.-tbis' sort of thing .out of .doors instead, .ot in the hoiise." It; certainly is, a charming'iyay to-spend an afternoon; to walk about a* beautiful- garden 'under a friendly aky, -wiiilo.i a. band .plays-popular airs, and everyone; talks.'. Lady Ward and' Mrs. Htflop. received"tho guests, and all the members of .the cominitteo were'present, with'this exception -of.Mrs, •Kewmau - and. Mrs. Pollen, both of whom wore, unfortunately, confined to tlieir- homes through 'sickness." K, 'Kilight, runholder', of Tahoraiti, was married to Mr. Alan Douglas' Williams, second son of Mr. Allen,M.
