' Our; hardworking Mayoress is to have a holiday, which is, certainly • much : needed. At the 'end of next week Mrs.-.Hislop is going 1 , to Christehurch for a three weeks' visit'to her daughter, Mrs. Charles v Cooper. Miss Maclean,.who is president of the Wellington Y.W.C.A., and who has been away from Now Zealand for a year, is: to bo'accorded a welcome home , by that Association in tho Mayor's room at tho Town Hall next Tuesday , afternoon. : Mrs. .Salmond, of Dunedin, is staying with Professor and Mrs. Salmond at Kelburue. It was ' a very enjoyable social evening .that was arranged' on Wednesday for thoso, who attended tho" Conference of i Musicians;.- Tho. gathering was held in tho concert room of tho.Town Hall, and about fifty people were present, including tho visiting delegates and local musicians. Among those who' contributed items to tho evening's entertainment were Messrs. Prouse, A. Hill (who gave a violin solo), Maughan Barnett, Herr iloppo (violin solo), and songs were given by Mrs. Glover Eaton, Madame'Carlton, and Miss Caldow. . Among the guests were Mesdames Hislop, Parsons, and Hogben, and Misses Richmond (2), M'Donald, Medley, and Parsons.'' Mr. and Miss Wolters, of Carterton, with the. two Misses Wolters, are at present staying in Wellington. 1 Mrs. Hugh.Boetham, of Brancepeth, with her two daughters, Mrs. Bethel and Miss Boetham, are..in town. . v : Miss Cameron and Miss Marryatt, of ,'Opaki, are making a short stay with friends in Wellington.
■Mrs. C. Fowler and her sister, Miss Tully, are . visiting Wellington. . , , Mr. and Mrs.-.0. Tully, of WaikanacS, are at present in 'Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. C. ( Summerell, of Master ton, arc in town. Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Martin have returned to town. 1 Miss" Mary-Laing-Meason,- who recently, 'went over to Melbourne, has acceptcd a position in-Mr. Herbert Flemming's Dramatic 'Company, and makes her-first-appearance in the play "Tho lied Lamp." which is to be staged Immediately
