VICTORIA COLLEGE COUNCIL.

NEW DEAN OP LAW FACULTY. The Victoria College' Council met last night. Present:—Mr. T. R. Fleming (Chairman), Sir ltobert Stout, Messrs. W. Hogg, M.P., J. Graham, M.P., 11. 1). Bell, K.C., 11. F. Von Haast, A. ft. Meek, W. 11. Quick, C. Wilson, R. M'Calluin, and the Rev. W. A. Evans. A letter was received from Professor Richmond suggesting that the scale of fees for law subjects he revised. The suggestion was adopted, anil the revision entrusted to a Subcommittee. consisting of Dr. Knight and Ml'. Meek, with power to add to their number. ,'Jt'ho Council went into Committee to consider application-; for the appointment of a Dean of the Faculty of Law. Mr. James Adamson, a member of the Scottish liar, was the successful candidate. Mr. Adamson is 37 years old, passed,his M.A. and LL.B. degrees with distinction at Edinburgh, won' the Muirhead Prize in 18!),") and 1804, was in 189") Assistant Professor in Scottish Law in Edinburgh University, and was called to the. Scottish Bar in ISO/!, after gaining his LL.fi. degree. Ifis testimonials include a very glowing one from Professor .1 Rankin. It. is expected that Mr. Adamson will take up his duties when the new session begins in March. Accounts to the. amount of ,£5Ol Gs. 9d. were passed for payment.
