Hundreds of members of tho federated shipbuilding 1 tfades in the north-east of have struck against an immediato Is. per week reduction , in time 1 rates, with a further 1 reduction in March. There is a falling off in shipbuilding orders. The output of- the Scotch yards in Octobor, 1900, was 57,992 tons; in October, 1907. 43,702 tons; while new contracts reported for October do not aggregate more than 20,000 ton 6. Jlost' of the yards have reduced staffs.
